In the third largest city of Greece, Patras, this Saturday June 8 at 16:45, “Neighborhoods on the Plate” and Dimitris Skarmoutsos will be present. A city with a rich history that is an important economic, commercial and cultural center of the Peloponnese and certainly has many culinary secrets to discover!
The tour starts from the much-loved “Salumeria” shop, as the sausage shops in Blonia used to be called. As can be seen from its name, it has Mediterranean influences but also a fusion mood as they often mix Italian recipes or techniques with Greek traditional products.
Mr. Panagis Mamos is the grandson of Petros Mamos, the first Greek licensed brewer who, in search of the recipe for the perfect beer, brewed “Mamos” beer in 1876. And since we have heard the expression “one name, one story” many times, now is the opportunity to meet the name and hear the story up close.
The next stop is at one of the most famous shops in Patras, “Riga”, which does one thing but does it exceptionally well. Stuffed, delicious, hearty sandwiches. Four main ingredients star: burger, omelette, bacon and the favorite oregano sausage.
The tour of Patras ends with the “Labyrinth” or for the mystics, the “Taverna of Antipa”, which is an atmospheric winery with simple but delicious food and many years of history. In fact, they cook, based on their grandfather’s old recipes, while among their most famous dishes are goat in oil oregano, beef with tentura sauce and pot cuttlefish.
Returning to the studio, Dimitris prepares two delicious dishes – Chicken with oatmeal and yogurt sauce and Risotto with vegetables.
