Robert Pattinson is set to produce the remake of the 1981 horror film, Possession.

According to reports, “Smile” director Parker Finn will direct and write the screenplay for the remake.

Robert Pattinson will produce through Icki’s company Eneo Arlo, while Roy Lee will produce for Vertigo Entertainment. The actor is currently only announced as a producer and not as the film’s star.

The original 1981 film was directed by Andrei Zulavsky and starred Sam Neill as Mark, an international spy and the husband of Anna, played by Isabelle Adjani, according to THR.

After returning home from a mission, Anna files for a divorce and does not reveal the reason. But Mark discovers that there is something worse behind the breakup.

The film was the director’s reaction to his own crumbling married life. An international co-production between France and Germany, it was neither successful nor well-received when it was released, but it became a cult for the director’s complete commitment to the cause and has been re-evaluated.

Robert Pattinson hasn’t appeared on the big screen since 2022’s “The Batman” and will return in January 2025 with Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17.”
