The warm smile and the talent are two of the elements that characterize her Krystallia Kefaloudi or Marianna from SKAI’s favorite drama series, “The Pantheons”. With her reappearance in the series, she gives her account on skai.gr and explains which condition particularly stressed her out. Also, she reveals some of the developments that we will see in the near future as well as her next professional plans…

How do you feel about this year’s TV season?

We can clearly talk about a TV fiction year rich in quantity, but mostly in quality, and exclaim “about time”. We had many period series, we heard our language, we touched our history, we were introduced to many new remarkable actors, but also collaborators in general, and subsequently the audience was given a wide range of choices. It’s safe to say that we’ve taken a big step, especially if we want to get to looking at foreign productions head-on and as equals at some point.

Are the results of the tough competition that prevails basically positive or negative?

Fierce competition can be a serious driving force in improving business conditions, provided it is healthy. The challenge to become better and more competitive undoubtedly favors increased creativity and contributes to the development of the entertainment industry in general. Of course, it is known that we are also usually faced with unfair practices with the logic of the “neighbor’s goat”, which lead to distortions of the market and unfortunately many times make its smooth operation detrimental. No one would want us to go back to the stone ages of television, I imagine.

How would you describe your collaboration with “Pantheus”?

In one word: magical! I feel very lucky and happy because “The Pantheons” consisted of a group of excellent colleagues – I learned a lot from them – but above all amazing people. We became a family and I can say that I now have lifelong relationships.

What was the biggest challenge you were asked to face entering the… world of Tasos Athanasiadis?

The world of Tasos Athanasiadis is a huge challenge in itself. This is a river novel with strong, exuberant and complex characters. Personally, I focused a lot on the way of speaking, moving, pronouncing words, but also penetrating a character who lived in another era, completely different from ours. The biggest bet-challenge, however, was clearly to represent with the greatest possible fidelity, the era in which the work takes place and describes.

Have you identified any commonalities with the Marianna you play?

At first level the common element I recognized in Marianna is that of independence and capacity. For example, when she realized that Fanis does not truly love her, she got up and left. What woman was able to do the same at that time? Here even nowadays in many cases it is terribly difficult. As the role developed I connected more deeply with her as I felt her pain and frustration. I too have experienced, in the past, that bitter feeling of betrayal and deception where everything you experienced seems like a lie and nothing more. Tough.

Did you get any weird reactions because of your role?

I’ll never forget one day when I’m in the supermarket and I’m carelessly shopping, a man in his sixties appears in front of me and starts wagging his finger at me shouting: “Shame on you witch for going with married people! Leave Fanis alone, do you hear?’ The whole store is back! It seemed very funny to me because on the one hand he was a man and not a woman, as is usually the case, and on the other hand because he lived it as if he knew Fanis personally. I made fun of it and replied “I’m not Marianna, I’m Krystallia but when I see her I will convey your complaints to her”. Luckily he understood and apologized to me.

Kefaloudi Panthei

Marianna is back and she’s a bit different. What has changed in her life?

Everything around her has changed except for one thing: Fanis Pantheos. She has moved on with her life but it is very difficult for her to accept that the one who supposedly adored her was just mocking her and what’s worse, that he ate so much time from her life. Especially for women the issue of time is much more important than for men due to motherhood.

Will it cause a new rift in the relationship between Fanis and Veta?

Her goal is the moral destabilization of Fanis with a form of justification. Whether this causes a rift in their relationship remains to be seen…
What can we expect to see in the upcoming episodes of the series?
We have now entered the dark period of the war where revelations follow one after the other. It is the last and most exciting chapter of the Pantheons and will surely captivate us.

What are your next professional plans?

We are going through the transition period of ferments and discussions, in a short time we will be able to talk confidently about the new jobs. At the moment, we are preparing for the second year for a mini-tour with the show “Catch the Dream” with our dear friend Zisis Papaioanou.
