The Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice sentenced the man who stabbed and killed Gabriel Mongenot Santana Milhomem, 25, a fan of singer Taylor Swift, to 33 years in prison after a performance in Rio. The crime was committed on Copacabana beach, in November 19th of last year.
Anderson Henriques Brandão was the perpetrator and had also stolen the victim’s belongings. Gabriel was stabbed in the chest. The crime took place hours after the singer’s concert at the Nilton Santos Stadium. Gabriel was with friends when he was attacked.
According to police, Anderson and another man were arrested red-handed. Anderson, in fact, had already been approached 56 times by agents from the Copacabana Present Security program.
Jonathan Batista Barbosa, the other man who had been arrested, was acquitted and had his arrest revoked.

Gabriel was born in Mato Grosso do Sul, but was studying aerospace engineering in Minas Gerais, with graduation scheduled for this year.
He was in Rio de Janeiro two days ago with friends from college and was meeting two cousins ​​in the city to go to the Taylor Swift concert.
Gabriel was the son of the assistant secretary of Social Assistance in Campo Grande (MS), Inês Mongenot. On her social networks, Mayor Adriane Lopes (PP) lamented the crime.
“In the face of such an abrupt and painful departure, I hope you [Inês] and his family find in God the serenity necessary to deal with this challenging moment”, wrote the mayor.
The body was buried days later in the southern capital of Mato Grosso.
