Chris Evans, Mark Cassen and Joey Chiani they will receive the award “Spirit of Service” (“The Spirit of Servant”) for the establishment of the public participation platform “A Starting Point”.

The award is presented by the non-profit Partnership for Public Service in the US to “people outside government institutions whose work is important to the goal of better governance and stronger democracy.”

The award ceremony will take place on September 11 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.

Actor Chris Evans created the organization A Starting Point in 2020 with filmmaker Mark Kashen and tech entrepreneur Joey Keani Jennan, calling it “a bipartisan channel of communication and connection between Americans and their elected officials to create of a more informed electorate”.

“Today only 7% of the federal workforce is under the age of 30, and trust in the federal government among young people is low. By connecting with young people, A Starting Point helps build a more engaged society, effective government that looks like the people it serves, and ultimately a stronger democracy.” said Max Steyer, CEO of the Partnership for Public Service. “We are honored to be able to recognize Chris Evans and his co-founders for their achievement in establishing the A Starting Point platform and supporting its important mission.”
