The much-lauded trial of the Hollywood star, Alec Baldwinabout the October 2021 shooting death of filmmaker Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust,” is set to open in the U.S. today.

It has been almost three years since the Halyna Hutchins died when a gun the actor was holding went off during filming in New Mexico. Baldwin, 66, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and faces up to 18 months in prison if convicted.

He has pleaded not guilty and testified that he did not know the gun contained a live bullet. It is the second time the grand jury has indicted him Alec Baldwin on the death of Halyna Hutchins. The actor was – initially – charged with two counts of negligent homicide on January 31, 2023 and the charges were later dropped in April 2023. The actor appeared in court yesterday and the trial is being held in a New Mexico District Court in Santa Fe.

Born Alexander Rae Baldwin, the 66-year-old actor has three other siblings who also went into acting. After appearing in television series such as the American soap opera ‘Knots Landing’, he became a major movie star in the late 1980s and early 90s in films such as ‘Beetlejuice’, ‘The Hunt For Red October’, “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “A Streetcar Named Desire.”

He has been married to his wife, Hilaria, since 2012 and the couple has seven young children. He also has an older daughter, Ireland Baldwin, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger.
