One of the biggest showbiz heartthrobs, Apostolos Gletsos did not only star in serials and theaters, but also in the hearts of many famous women of the time. The actor and politician in the most mature moment of his life, during a break from the filming of the series “The land of the olive tree”, spoke to “Loipon” and to Panagiotis Vazaios about everyone and everything.

-Was it karmic for you to get into acting?

“Several caricatures that happened in my life made me become an actor – I really got into acting out of caricatures, but then I really loved this profession. Some things I went through pointed me there. A lot happened, but can I tell you something? During the almost 35 years that I have been in the field, somewhere you forget things and everything is confusing.

I fell in love with the job of an actor – if that doesn’t happen, you don’t stay. Either you fall in love with acting and you can’t do without it or you leave because things are too hard, it takes a strong stomach if you only think about the fact that every 6 months you are unemployed”.

-Is it true that you didn’t go to Epidaurus because you chose to do television?

“You’re talking about my start now. I regretted some things that were suggested to me and I didn’t do them in the theater. I said no clearly about the money. I didn’t go to Epidaurus and go to make serials, because I needed the money then!”

-Did you manage to make a fortune from this job?

“The system works in such a way that it doesn’t let you get rich. You just have a normal life. To understand, you are a little better than a high school teacher. You get money from TV, but the state immediately keeps 50%.

Also when you are famous and you sit somewhere to eat and the bill comes, when you leave, you should leave a good tip. I can’t leave a 10% like everyone else would. Otherwise they will call me stingy and depraved.”

-With all that you do at the same time, do you find time for your personal life?

“The truth is that there is a lack of personal time, because I am also involved in politics, local government. There is a loneliness that you impose on yourself because of our work. That’s why in our space you will see people who are couples and married for life, like Nikitas Tsakiroglou and Chrysoula Diavati or Bezos with Tsaliki, or else you will see people who are alone.”

-You, however, had strong relationships in your life…

“Well, yes. I don’t mean that you walk your whole life alone.”

-Is there any love in your life during this time?

“Love in the sense of cohabitation, no. There is a long distance relationship for relaxation. This must be the case, because otherwise you will go crazy.”

-Is another wedding in the back of your mind?

“Neither bound, nor with a gun to my temple, I would not have another marriage. There is no reason”.
