The German sportswear giant has withdrawn an ad featuring the supermodel
Adidas withdrew the top model Bella Hadidwho is half Palestinian, from an ad campaign for retro shoes referencing the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Israel had criticized Hadid’s choice. He accused her of hostility towards Israel and noted that 11 Israeli athletes were killed by Palestinian terrorists at the Munich Games. Adidas apologized and said it would “review” its campaign.
Bella Hadid is a staunch supporter of the Palestinians and earlier this year donated money to support aid efforts for the war in Gaza.
The German sportswear company had chosen Hadid to promote the SL72 shoes. However, images of the model wearing the shoes drew criticism from, among others, Israel’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Other social media users defended Hadid and called for a boycott of Adidas following the move to pull the campaign. Hadid has expressed its support for the people affected by the war in Gaza.
