After 8 years away from soap operas, the public is now able to see Malu Mader, 57, in the format that made her famous in the 1980s, when she starred in hits such as “Top Model” and “Fera Radical”. And, for the actress, her participation as the farmer Aurora in the remake of “Renascer” (Globo) has also been a special moment.
“It’s been with all the emotions that a reunion has the right to,” she told reporter Renata Ceribelli in an interview that will air this Sunday (21) on Fantástico. “It’s really been a trip. I’m very happy, very surprised with so much affection and very impressed with the quality of this soap opera.”
“Quality, when I say it, is not only artistic, but human,” she continued. “When I was invited, I immediately called Marquinhos [Marcos Palmeira, que vive o protagonista José Inocêncio]who is my friend. And he said: ‘Malu, you have to do it because it’s the filet mignon. The team, the cast, Gustavo Fernández [diretor] are too much.”
In the original 1993 version, Aurora was played by Mara Carvalho. She and José Inocêncio (Antonio Fagundes, to whom Mara was married in real life) had a brief affair. Recently separated from Mariana (Adriana Esteves), he preferred not to start a new relationship. He went back to Ilhéus (BA) after spending a few days on the farm next to her, in the center-west, where he had gone with the intention of learning how to raise cattle.
This time, the character is a strong, independent woman who is concerned about the impacts of climate change. Aurora invites José Inocêncio to go to one of her farms in EspÃrito Santo. It is in this context that they get closer, fall in love and have a great romance —very different from the fleeting affair of the original version.
