The 18-year-old, one of the former couple’s six children, applied for a name change on her birthday, May 27. The announcement was recently published in the Los Angeles Times.

The press release

According to her lawyer, Peter Levine, Shiloh’s decision to change her last name was made “after painful events.” Levine, who Shiloh found and paid for herself, said the 18-year-old “just followed the legal process.”

Announcing the change of surname is an obligation according to the law, both in Greece and in California. The applicant for name change or surname removal must publish the notice in a local newspaper. This publication is one of the final steps in the process, and if anyone wishes to file an objection, they can do so in court.

Although Brad Pitt, according to sources, is disappointed and saddened by the developments, he will likely not file an appeal. Shiloh is not his first daughter to change her last name. Zahara and Vivienne have also dropped the surname ‘Pitt’, although it’s unclear if Vivienne has gone through the legal process as well, as she uses the surname Jolie.

Brad Pitt’s relationship with his children

Brad Pitt has “almost no contact” with his older children, as reported by the Daily Mail. According to a source, “He has almost no contact with grown children. His engagement with the younger children has been more limited in recent months due to his filming schedule.”

Pitt has a total of six children with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. They have three biological children: 18-year-old Shiloh and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. They have also adopted Maddox, 22, and Pax, 20, as well as Zahara, 19, with the custody agreement allowing the actor to have contact with the two minor children.
