Claudia Mauro, who plays the character Capitu in Escolinha do Professor Raimundo (Globo), said she suffered harassment behind the scenes of the comedy show in the 1990s. The actress said she went through different uncomfortable situations, but that a more serious case left a deep impression on her.
Claudia, who was already married to actor Paulo César Grande, said that an actor from the series who has since passed away kept asking her out. “One actor had a crush on me… he would call my house and invite me to go out. One time, while we were driving, he said: ‘I’ll pay you, how much do you want to be with me?'” she told Caras magazine, without mentioning her colleague’s name.
According to her, the episodes also happened frequently during tests or recordings.
“[Sofria] direct harassment, wow. I never took action, we didn’t even see it that way. But I’ve been to audition for a film and the director said: ‘Turn around, please’. Another one said: ‘Do you have a boyfriend?’. The man felt entitled and no one did anything, there were women who didn’t even respond”, recalled Claudia.
The actress also said she believes that, because she is the sister of actor André Di Mauro and the wife of Paulo César, her situation on the set was better than it would have been if she had not had any well-known relatives at the time. “He was a hunk in the 1980s, a big and famous man. So, they didn’t mess with me,” she said about her husband.
