Journalist Tiago Leifert gave more details about the treatment of Lua’s retinoblastoma, his daughter with journalist Daiana Garbin, to Programa de Todos os Programas, from Record’s YouTube channel, this Tuesday (1st). He stated that it is a very long, difficult treatment and that he is learning a lot on a day-to-day basis.

Leifert explained that he and his wife have many things to celebrate in the Moon’s treatment, but the concerns are just as many. He said that it is one day and one exam at a time as it is an extremely rare disease.

“A disease in a child of one, two or a year and a half is very different [que em um adulto]. The child’s metabolism is at 1000 per hour from a very young age. The first three years are very fast-paced. It is very difficult to know what will happen.”

Despite this, the journalist says he remains optimistic about Lua’s treatment and that everything is going as expected. “But it’s a war and you don’t win battles all the time. We still can’t say that everything is fine, that you’re cured. Let’s go ahead, we’re being treated, undergoing chemotherapy and frequent tests. “

The journalist spoke of the joy of having helped other parents to identify the disease in their children after watching the video he made with his wife about Lua’s disease. On January 29, the couple posted the video on social networks talking about the disease and explaining that he took a break from his career because he wouldn’t be able to present a show in that situation.

“This is a joy that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Today I cried with emotion in the morning because an email arrived for Daiana from a mother who managed to identify retinoblastoma because of us.”, says the journalist, who learned about fives identified after the video.

Leifert said that he also learned from his daughter’s illness that life needs to go on and that there is no way to keep licking wounds because the world doesn’t stop. “We change, there are days when I’m worse, there are days when it’s Daiana. One helps to lift the other, but life has to go on.”

He said that, although his concentration is still not the best due to his daughter’s problem, he continues with his hobbies and work and his wife Daiana does the same. “If we ruminate on the disease all the time, it becomes very difficult”, he explains.
