Involved in sex scandals and in debt, Kevin Spacey lost his luxurious mansion in Baltimore, in the American state of Maryland.

The property was auctioned at the Baltimore court last Thursday (25), due to foreclosure. A real estate businessman bought the property for US$ 3.24 million (around R$ 18 million).

According to the local newspaper Baltimore Banner, a crowd of onlookers gathered at the courthouse to watch the auction, which lasted just 15 minutes. Local media reports say the house is worth nearly double what it fetched at auction.

The mansion, which belonged to the actor, sits on a floating pier above the Patapsco River and has been billed as “Baltimore’s most extraordinary home.” It has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, an elevator, a sauna, a home theater and a four-car garage.

Charges and acquittal

Kevin Spacey, now 65, was first accused of sexual assault in 2017 by actor Anthony Rapp. At the time, he came out as gay but denied the accusations. In the years that followed, the “House of Cards” (Netflix) star was accused of sexual assault by several other men.

In 2022, he was acquitted of part of the charges in a New York civil court and, in July 2023, he was acquitted of nine charges in a London court.

Even though he was acquitted, the star never worked on TV or in the movies again. His last film was “Billionaire Boys Club”, released in 2018. With the abrupt interruption of his career, he became insolvent and ended up having his property foreclosed to pay off debts to the government.

Kevin Spacey has two Oscars, one for best actor for “American Beauty” (1996) and one for supporting actor for “The Usual Suspects” (1995), as well as a Golden Globe for best actor for “House of Cards” (2014).
