According to Irish Independentthe death certificate (registered by her ex-husband John Reynolds) states that O’Connor died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma.

The certificate also stated that the singer was also reportedly suffering from a “lower respiratory tract infection.” Sinead O’Connor’s death was certified by Julian Morris, senior coroner for south London, after a post mortem was completed without an inquest.

During her three-decade career, the singer found global success with her 1990 cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which catapulted her into the spotlight, sometimes against her wishes. It was also for her human rights, women’s rights and anti-racism activism.
