Eleven years after the brief passage of Ariadna Arantes, 37, the first transsexual and transvestite woman to step on Big Brother Brasil (Globo), Linn da Quebrada, 31, took a step forward this Wednesday (2) by becoming the first transvestite to pass through Paredão without being eliminated.
The BBB 22 participant faced the dispute with Arthur Aguiar and Larissa, and was the least voted with only 5.51% of the public votes. Arthur received 5.9% and Larissa was eliminated with 88.59%. The memory of Ariadna, former BBB of the 11th edition and the first to be eliminated, was inevitable.
On social media, viewers and Lina’s supporters celebrate her permanence in the game and judged it as something important for the representation of the trans and transvestite community in Brazil. Linn da Quebrada’s Twitter profile agreed with the web movement and even explained a curious link between Ariadna and Lina’s journey.
“We chose Lina’s emoji because of her song called ‘I’ll be A’. Recently, we found out that when Ariadna was eliminated, Bial referred to her as ‘little mermaid’. After more than 10 years, Lina remains in the game as the least voted on this wall”, said the publication.
In 2011, Ariadna received 49% of the vote and was the first eliminated from the program that year. “I think this means we are advancing in the way transvestites are seen in the country”, pointed out a netizen on Twitter.
“Linn at the beginning of the program wanted to feel that the Brazil that took Ariadna, the first trans woman, in just one week, would be able to root for someone like her this year. And the answer is that yes Lina, you became the only transvestite to enter favorite and with less rejection”, wrote another profile.
“Brazil can root for a transvestite, Lina”, reinforced another profile on the social network. “At BBB 11 Ariadna was the 1st eliminated for the simple fact of not ‘assuming’ to be trans, as if she were a criminal who needed to confess something”, recalled a follower.
Within the program Lina has gone through quite a journey to be treated with female pronouns. Some participants have already made a mistake, including Slovenia and Lucas, and this has caused quite a stir outside. Not only the public, but also artists and influential names took a stand against serious mistakes and asked for respect for the singer.
Tadeu Schmidt, presenter of the program, also gave an indirect call to the participants, and reinforced the use of the feminine pronoun -tattooed on Lina’s forehead – with her.
