Kate Winslet revealed that she refused to cover her belly when a crew member told her so during the filming of her latest film ‘Lee’.

The Oscar-winning actress opened up about the incident as she “embraced” her natural beauty while posing topless in the sea for her recent Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot.

Speaking to the magazine, the actress said: “There’s a part where Lee is sitting on a bench in a bikini… And one of the crew came in between takes and said, “Maybe you want to sit straighter and better not show your belly.” Of course, I refused to do it.”

She also admitted that she doesn’t mind not looking perfect on screen, as she explained: “The opposite. I am proud of it, because this is me, my very life. I don’t like to hide.”

Finally, Kate Winslet pointed out that she feels a huge relief that women are much more accepting of themselves than in the past.

“I don’t know a single woman my age who grew up watching her mother look in the mirror and say, ‘I’m beautiful!’ My mother never did. She was always like, “Oh my God, I don’t think I can wear this, I look hippie, does my bum look big?”. We waste so much time being self-deprecating and I will never do that again. I’m more comfortable with myself as time goes on. This allows me not to be influenced by other people’s opinions.”
