At the height of “Game of Thrones” in 2019, Kit Harington, Jon Snow, was at the height of his fight against alcoholism.

A few weeks before the final episode of the series aired on HBO, the star was admitted to a rehabilitation clinic in Connecticut, USA, where the monthly fee cost US$ 120 thousand, around R$ 650 thousand. In an interview with GQ Hype this Monday (12), he opened up about his battle against addiction.

“I despised myself and had no pride in anything I did,” said the actor, who says his alcohol abuse led to depression and suicidal thoughts.

At the clinic, which he says was worth the price, Kit received cognitive behavioral therapy and learned to meditate. “It worked! The fact that I’m proud to be sober is in itself a mark of my transformation into a new person,” the British star said.

Now 37, Kit is the father of two children, a three-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl with his wife, actress Rose Leslie. In the interview, he spoke about how fatherhood has changed his life.

“I’m a bit of a self-centered person. I’m generous and loving too, but with children you just can’t be self-centered. They take that away from you, which is a gift. Children are, by definition, self-centered, so you have to put your ego aside. Having children is the most selfless thing you can do,” she said.
