Fafá de Belém’s outright laugh, one of her most striking features, is becoming rare. The singer is going through a difficult phase in her life – and she doesn’t hide it from anyone. At the end of June, she suffered a domestic accident that left her in a wheelchair, and days later she lost her older brother, Kim Palha. “I don’t think I’m in astral hell, I’m in ‘Dante’s Inferno’, where the astral met”, commented the singer, who turned 68 on August 9.
Admittedly fast-paced, the singer from Pará said that limited mobility has been her biggest enemy in recent days. Fafá injured her knee after tripping on the living room rug. She also said that she will need to relearn how to walk and that the accident made her look more cautiously at her own health.
She then explained: “I’ve always worked for myself and I discovered, going into the pandemic and coming out of it, that the urgency was much more for others. I never stopped to do my own things, to have time for vacation, to dedicate myself. But now I’ve had more time to reflect on what I want in life.”
Fafá also recalled the pain of losing her older brother. “He was my great life partner, a fabulous photographer, an interesting journalist and it was very complicated. I couldn’t go to Belém because at that time I couldn’t fly yet. But, once again, my friends took care of everything, everything you can imagine. A friend is the salt in life, right? He’s the salt of life”, she said in an interview with Gshow. The cause of Kim Palha’s death was not revealed by his family.
