Marta announces engagement to Carrie Lawrence, right back for Orlando Pride, in the United States

Striker Marta, 38, is engaged. A silver medalist at the 2024 Olympics, the player shared images on social media of her engagement to right-back Carrie Lawrence, 27. The two, who play for Orlando Pride, a team in the NWSL, the women’s league in the United States, have been together since 2022.

Carrie, who took advantage of the break in competition to accompany her then-girlfriend to Paris, was moved by the proposal. Family and friends of the couple later attended the celebration at a restaurant. Some Orlando Pride players were present at the event. The wedding date has not been announced.

Orlando Pride is currently the leader of the American women’s league, with 38 points. After the interruption for the Olympic Games, the competition will resume this week. Marta and Carrie’s team will face Houston Dash, with Brazilians Tarciane and Andressa Alves, next Friday (23).

At the beginning of the year, the greatest player in the history of Brazilian football, said that she wants to be a mother: “I have the dream and the desire to have children. To take a chair and sit on the edge of the field watching them play and take them to training. I hope that can become a reality”, she said, in an interview with the FIFA website.
