They are “hidden” in mountains and green forests, constituting small miracles of Greek nature. Despite their very good “hiding”, year after year more and more tourists discover the beauties of the waterfalls of Central Macedonia and there are quite a few brave ones who dive into their icy waters.

The waterfalls of Edessa may be the most famous and photographed, but there are other water “paradises” in Pella, Pieria, Kilkis, Serres and Halkidiki, in which those interested can swim while wearing their swimwear.

The “Blue Lake” of Skra in Kilkis

Those who have been to Skra Falls in Kilkis speak of one of the most beautiful places. On the slopes of Mount Paiko, at an altitude of about 500 meters, the visitor faces unspoiled nature, waters that run creating streams, small waterfalls and a pond, called “Blue Lake”.

The most “researched” knew the spot, most of them discovered it shortly before the pandemic, while the number of visitors is constantly increasing. It is mostly young people, aged 20-40, from all over Greece, who dive into the icy waters, while the municipality is considering ways to create a larger parking area to meet the additional needs.

The two waterfalls of Varvara in Halkidiki

Visitors to Varvara, on the third leg of Halkidiki, will see not one, but two incredible waterfalls that create diving platforms.

The point used to be called “of Angelousis” and the water ends up in Mavrolakas. The walking route is short, with wooden bridges and a unique landscape with alder, linden, beech and wild hazel growing all around.

The place is considered ideal for families as young children are enthralled by the scenery.

“The spot is recommended by the accommodations for day trips and is visited by both Greek and foreign tourists who have come to our municipality for vacation,” says the mayor of Aristoteli, Stelios Valianos.

The natural waterfalls in the Baths of Pozar, along the river, with thermal water, give a special beauty, where the visitor can bathe both for health reasons and for leisure reasons.

Formed paths allow exploration of the canyon and lead to the impressive waterfall, 22 meters high, at an altitude of 400 meters, while right next to it there is another smaller one.

The area of ​​Pella, with the Baths and the waterfalls, gathers many visitors throughout the year as in winter, when the temperatures are low, people relax in the warm waters of the springs, while in the summer they cool off in the cold waterfall.

The brave dive into Enipeus Olympos, the “bath of Zeus”

The gorge and waterfall of Enipea are among the most magical and popular routes for visitors to Olympus, in Pieria.

The great Enipea waterfall is located in the middle of the gorge of the same name. Its waters fall from a height of 38 meters and form a blue-green pedestal. Although there are many visitors who arrive at the site, few seem to have the courage to dive into the icy waters.

Ponds and ravines come and complete the fairytale setting, next to the Old Monastery of Agios Dionysios. The route is easy and at the same time impressive and for this reason groups of tourists from all over the world visit this spot.

Breaths of coolness at the waterfalls in Oreskeia of Serres

At the northern foothills of Kerdylia, in the green landscape of Oreskeia of Serres, a small waterfall is revealed between the rocks, pouring into a natural pedestal that has a depth of 5.5 meters in its center.

This magical spot is located in the municipality of Visaltia and visitors make countless dives, while taking breaths of coolness, in the middle of the high temperatures.

The area is located approximately 30 km from Serres and the podiums are located approximately 3 km from the village of Dafni, with relatively easy access for those interested.
