American singer Courtney Love, 57, has ended a lawsuit with her ex-son-in-law over allegations that she planned to kill or kidnap him in the dispute over one of the guitars that belonged to Kurt Cobain, the legendary singer of Nirvana.

In a complicated case involving people linked to pop star Britney Spears and a Netflix series, the lawyer for the singer’s widow told a Los Angeles judge that the two parties reached a settlement.

Isaiah Silva, lead singer of American alternative rock band The Eeries and ex-husband of Love and Cobain’s daughter, filed a lawsuit in 2018, alleging that Love had planned a kidnapping attempt by faking a burglary at his home.

Silva claimed that Osama “Sam” Lufti, Britney Spears Ross Butler’s former manager – who starred in the series “13 Reasons Why” – and another man entered his home in 2016, posing as police officers at the behest of Cobain’s widow. .

According to the lawsuit, Silva was allegedly dragged from his West Hollywood residence by the men, who stuffed him into a car. But he was saved from what he claims could have been his murder by a friend, who came to visit him and blocked the vehicle’s path, calling the police.

Silva claims that Love ordered the men she sent to scare him into giving up the rare 1959 guitar that Kurt Cobain played on the show “MTV Unplugged in New York”, recorded by Nirvana in 1993.

After Cobain’s death in 1994, the instrument would have stayed with Frances Bean Cobain –Love and Cobain’s daughter– and became the subject of a dispute during the divorce between her and Silva in 2017.

Ross Butler denies having acted against Silva and guarantees that he and Lutfi had just gone to visit him. Lutfi was Britney Spears’ agent in the 2000s, but they had disagreements and she filed for a restraining order against him.

A GUITAR OF BRL 30 MILLION

Love has always maintained that she had no involvement in the alleged events that took place at Silva’s home. “I never conspired with anyone to murder or kidnap Silva or get hold of the guitar,” Love said in another lawsuit related to the case.

The guitar, a D-18E Martin, was sold at a 2020 auction in Los Angeles worth US$6 million.

Terms of the deal between Love and Silva, lead singer of alternative rock band The Eeries, were not revealed.

Love and Kurt Cobain’s tempestuous marriage was one of the most talked about relationships of the 1990s, fueled by drugs and depression.

Beginning at the beginning of the decade, the novel dominated entire sections of publications devoted to music and celebrity life with stories of epic arguments and heroin problems.

Kurt Cobain’s suicide in 1994 at age 27 left a hole in the music business, while many Nirvana fans blamed Love for the tragedy. Angry, clever lyrics and raging guitar chords made Nirvana one of the biggest bands of the decade.

His show “MTV Unplugged”, recorded in 1993 in New York, became a cult performance for an entire generation of fans, and spawned what is widely considered one of the best live albums of its time.
