Actor Antony Starr, 46, who plays the protagonist Captain Homeland in the series “The Boys” (Amazon Prime), spent the dawn of this Wednesday (2) in prison in the city of Alicante, Spain.

The New Zealander was arrested after assaulting a 21-year-old in a bar area, according to the Spanish newspaper El País. He allegedly punched the victim in the face, causing a cut on his eyebrow, which required four stitches at the Hospital de Alicante.

The actor admitted that he was drunk at the time of the assault, and was sentenced to 12 months in prison, according to the Daily Mail. However, he was able to reach an agreement to suspend the decision by paying a fine of more than 4 thousand pounds to the victim (about R$ 26,930).

The case was brought to court on Thursday and, according to an official interviewed by the Daily Mail, “the detainee’s state of intoxication was taken into account as a mitigating factor”.

“His prison sentence is being suspended on the condition that he does not commit another crime in two years and pays compensation within the next 72 hours,” he added.

In “The Boys”, Starr plays an extremely violent “hero-villain” with dubious attitudes. In Spain, the actor is shooting a new Guy Ritchie film, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Dar Salim, Alexander Ludwig and Emily Beecham.
