Alonissos is among the 10 “small paradises” of the Mediterranean, according to the popular Italian website thewom.it which “counts” millions of visits on a monthly basis. The aim of the website’s research, which specializes in issues of sustainability and special forms of tourism, was to search for Mediterranean islands with an intact natural environment that do not suffer from overtourism and overpopulation.

Among destinations from Croatia, Turkey, Spain and Greece, travel.thewom.it singles out Alonissos as “it is the most peaceful and nature-loving of the Sporades islands with kilometers of pristine and protected coastline. In Alonissos you can dive or do unique diving, in areas within an impressive natural marine park that “hosts” rare species of fauna”.

In cooperation with information networks and tourist agencies such as the EOT Offices, the Municipality of Alonissos with the support of specialized partners, continues this year the promotion effort abroad such as in Italy, Great Britain, France, Scandinavia, Germany and other international markets that respond to the call for holidays with authentic experiences, activities and quality services in a truly exotic environment. “At a time when mass tourism and hyper-tourism impose their rhythms, Alonissos naturally differentiates itself. It is encouraging that year after year the portion of travelers who are looking for quality, nature and authenticity in their vacations is growing and who prefer Alonissos not only for relaxation, but also to learn a way of life that they will take with them when they leave. and they will make it their property”, points out the chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Alonissos and travel agent Diogenis Theodorou.
