Last Saturday (14), singer Daniela Mercury decided to throw away a bench that was in the center of the stage of one of her shows in Salvador (BA). However, the act infuriated a businesswoman, as the stool was part of one of the launches of Casacor Bahia 2024.
Tati Mandelli, founder of Tidelli, the company responsible for creating the piece, called Mercury trash in a rant on social media.
“She received one of our products that is on display at Casacor, a new product, a bar stool, and threw it like it was trash. I would like to tell this lady, who calls herself an artist, that neither she nor anyone else can throw it like it’s trash,” he began. “This singer is the real trash, she has no elegance or respect for people,” he added.
On her Instagram profile, Daniela Mercury published what she called an “Open letter to my future friend, the Bank”. In her statement, she said that she ended up purchasing the stool after the presentation “as a symbol of my empowerment and my freedom”.
In her statement, she stated that she had asked other people to remove the object from the stage so that she could move better, but that her request had not been granted.
“I called an assistant, I called another, nobody moved. Dear little stool, you were a witness when I asked to get you out of there, right? I wasn’t answered because certainly stool is a masculine word. It doesn’t seem like it, but many people are resistant to receiving orders from a woman,” she says in one of the excerpts.
In another, he questions whether, if he had been a male artist, his request would have been granted by the event’s production team.
“Only we women know what we go through to lead and survive in the savage male world. Then when we react like them, we are called crazy and they want to burn us, like they did with the witches. Well, let me tell you: if all women were ‘crazy’ at least once in their lives, we would already be respected.”
