In the 1970s, Thierry Mugler, from Alsace, arrived in Paris and boldly launched his eponymous brand
The house of Muglerhis story and new vision with creative director Casey Cadwallader are being chronicled in a new documentary series.
The “Inside the Dream: Mugler” directed by Matthieu Menu showcases Mugler’s 50-year journey and defining moments, such as the ‘Chimère’ mermaid dress and the creation of the Angel fragrance.
In the documentary, viewers will be given a behind-the-scenes tour of Cadwallader’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection show. Never-before-seen archival footage from Mugler’s early days is interspersed with behind-the-scenes footage of recent moments like Zendaya’s arrival on the red carpet at the premiere of ‘Dune: Part 2’ in the cyborg-like ‘Maschinenmench’ costume.
After handing over the reins of his company to Cadwallader in 2017, Manfred Thierry Mugler died in January 2022.
Its record of subversive feminine clothing has made the house a favorite among famous singers such as Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Some of his most subversive creations traveled to museums around the world for the exhibition “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime” whose last stop was the Brooklyn Museum.
In the 1970s, Thierry Mugler (later known as Manfred Mugler) from Alsace, arrived in Paris and boldly launched his eponymous brand.
The documentary is a tribute to both Maison Mugler, its legacy, Manfred Mugler, and Casey Cadwallader, who, since 2017, has given new life respecting the house’s codes and DNA.
