Many celebrities began to declare their opinions of repudiation of state deputy Arthur do Val (Podemos) after he became a target with leaks of sexist audios about Ukrainian women.
In the audios, Arthur do Val says that Ukrainian women are “easy” because they are poor — and that the line of war refugees has more beautiful women than the “best club in Brazil”.
The parliamentarian published an apology on social media, saying that the content of the speeches was not correct with Brazilian and Ukrainian women and with “all the people who put trust in my work”. He stated that he got in touch with the president of Podemos, Renata Abreu, and asked to withdraw his pre-candidacy for the government of São Paulo. According to him, the audios he sent were a “mistake in a moment of excitement”.
On social media, Fátima Bernardes said that what the parliamentarian said was “inadmissible” and “revolting”. “We as Brazilians did not need to go through this shame anymore. Deputy Arthur do Val, on a mission in Ukraine, says that the women of that country – which is facing a war, a humanitarian tragedy – are easy because they are poor. We need to reflect a lot on our choices.”
The presenter of MasterChef (Band) and journalist Ana Paula Padrão says she believes the deputy’s stance to be “intolerable, hateful and disgusting”. “We need to change. For that we have to expel these worms from our coexistence. I don’t give a stage to imbeciles, but I believe that this episode has to be discussed and passed on, yes”, she opined.
“Treating ‘poor women’ as an easy target on an abject sex tour would be unspeakable, but to do so by referring to women in a line of Ukrainian refugees is unacceptable”, amended Ana Paula.
Actress Giovanna Antonelli wrote: “Unacceptable. A monster. A piece of shit.” Globo journalist Andréia Sadi condemned the fact that the deputy had asked people to “understand the context” of his act. “Everyone understood, it’s in Portuguese, very clear, well explained.”
And while actress Beth Goulart identified the speech as “inadmissible”, actor José de Abreu decided to make a connection with the current federal government. “Mamãe Falei and Mayor Chincheira’s mother-in-law are the best representatives of Bolsonarism.”
