One of the biggest toy sales phenomena of the 1990s, the doll with the image of Xuxa Meneghel, which returned to stores last Friday (27), sold out its relaunch edition in just 24 hours.
The information was confirmed by the toy manufacturer Estrela when F5. The company states that it is already in negotiations with Xuxa for a new extra print run due to the high demand from the public to buy the doll.
The doll, originally launched in 1997, had a commemorative edition announced on Friday (27), with sales made online. In total, there were 1,500 units of the toy in the first edition for “the collecting public and nostalgic fans”, as the advertisement on the brand’s website said.
In the announcement of the doll, Xuxa wrote: “Another thing you always asked for a lot: the return of my doll! The Star listened to your request and made this dream come true again. Now, for those who had the opportunity to win one when I was short or small and today it no longer exists, or for those who couldn’t have it at that time, now they have the possibility of ‘taking me home'”.
Sales began at 12pm last Friday (27). This Saturday (28), Xuxa announced on social media that the toy was no longer in circulation. The Star also thanked the sales.
In the 1990s, it is estimated that Xuxa’s doll officially sold more than 1 million units, according to data provided by the toy manufacturer at the time.
