Angelina Jolie, 46, posted a video on her Instagram this Sunday (6) claiming to be in the city of Aden, Yemen, to help families and UN refugees.
“As we continue to watch the horrors unfolding in Ukraine and call for an immediate end to the conflict and humanitarian access, I am here in Yemen to support people who also desperately need peace,” she wrote in the publication.
“The situation here is one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, with one civilian killed or injured every hour in 2022. A war-torn economy and more than 20 million Yeminis depending on humanitarian assistance to survive,” he added.
The actress, who serves as a special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), stressed that all victims deserve support.
“This week, a million people were forced to flee the horrible war in Ukraine. If we have learned anything from this shocking situation, it is that we cannot be selective about who deserves support and whose rights we defend. Everyone deserves the same compassion,” he said. Is it over there. “The lives of civilian victims of conflict everywhere are of equal value. After seven years of war, the people of Yemen also need protection, support and, above all, peace.”
Yemen has been plagued by civil war since 2014, when Iran-backed Houthi rebels took control of the capital, Sanaa, and much of the country’s north, forcing the government to flee south and then to Saudi Arabia.
Politically active on her social media, Jolie has also made a series of publications regarding the invasion of Ukraine, showing support for victims and refugees and calling for an end to the war.
