The trial of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs on human trafficking for sexual exploitation and other charges is set for May 5, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian ruled in a pretrial hearing yesterday, according to US media. The date is consistent with requests by Cobbs’ team for an April or May trial.

The American rap mogul has been in jail since September 16. when he was arrested in New York on charges of extortion, forcible sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. American rapper, record producer Sean Combs, also known by his stage names Diddy, P. Diddy, Puffy, Puff Daddy, Love and Brother Love, has pleaded not guilty.

‘Diddy’ made his first court appearance yesterday following his arrest. According to reports, his mother Janice Combs was seen at the courthouse with the rapper’s children.

Cobbs’ legal team filed a motion Wednesday for a preliminary inquest, accusing the US government of orchestrating a smear campaign in collusion with the media to undermine a fair trial.

According to the memo, which was obtained by Variety, Combs’ attorney claims there were numerous attempts in the “government scheme” to undermine his right to a fair trial. In the detailed document, it asks that appropriate remedies be considered – including disqualifying witnesses or having all charges in his indictment dismissed.

In addition, four different tactics of government misconduct are highlighted, most egregiously CNN’s leak of video in which Combs appears to assault his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016. His lawyers say neither Ventura nor a third party were possible sources of the leak. Thus, they point to the government as the most likely culprit given the timing of the video’s release.

His legal team claims that agents of the US Department of Homeland Security undermined the Bad Boy Records founder leading to the charges against him.
