Scheduled to take place on May 5, 2025, the trial of rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, will fall on the same day as the famous and popular Met Gala, a traditional fashion event loved by Hollywood celebrities.
Interestingly, in 2023, Combs was present at the event promoted by Vogue magazine. On the occasion, he appeared wearing an all-black and stylish look, with black roses and chains, very different from the outfit he now wears in prison, where he has remained since September. He is accused of crimes such as sex trafficking, criminal association and extortion.
Next year’s theme will be the importance of clothing and style for the formation of black identities, and many black celebrities are expected such as actor Colman Domingo, pilot Lewis Hamilton and artists A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams, in addition to basketball player LeBron James.
For Diddy’s lawyers, the leak of information about the case, especially a video of the rapper beating his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, was done on purpose to “destabilize the court”.
The defense also highlighted the way the search and seizure was carried out at the rapper’s home. According to the lawyers, it was “intentionally carried out to maximize media exposure.” They criticized the excessive force used against Diddy’s children and other leaks made by the prosecution aimed at “tarnishing Mr. Combs’ reputation before trial.”
Diddy has been detained since September 16th at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center in New York. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told the American magazine People a little about the rapper’s routine.
According to Agnifilo, the hardest part is the food. Diddy starts his day at 6am with a breakfast of cereal, fruit, toast and a cake. At 11am, lunch, usually a combination of a protein with pasta or salad. Dinner is served after 4pm.
The rapper is allowed visitors, and has been visited by his mother, Janice Combs, and his twin daughters, D’Lila and Jessie. Diddy also has five more children who have not yet visited him.
