You wouldn’t call her conventional. OR Tamila Kulieva and her ex-now-husband, the well-known director Grigoris Karatinakis, made a decision 33 years ago for the birth of their son that was clearly groundbreaking at the time.

The actress she gave birth to their baby boy in the water at their home in Moscow, where they then resided permanently before deciding to return to Greece. The same one who stars in the series “Agios Erotas” this year was invited to the set of the show “Super Katerina” and the presenter Katerina Kainourgiou had many questions about her choice.

-I was very impressed that 33 years ago you made the decision to give birth to your son in water… How did you decide that?

“Then it was really pioneering because now I think they have accepted how good it is for a person when this method is born. Then the truth is that we didn’t have any special support from the surrounding area.

And when we came to Greece and we were talking about it because I gave birth in Moscow, at home, this is very interesting and it takes a lot of time to develop, I will only say that it is a slightly different perception because what the doctors told us who of course we did a preparation, we didn’t go like that, alone, the two of us, we were told that the act of love ends with the birth of the child… That we can see it like this…

So, first of all it’s not a disease, it’s about two people who were the two of them when they were conceived, so they must be the two of them when they’re born. That was the perception and I don’t know now if people will laugh at what I say.. So you are with your man and you create a suitable atmosphere. Grigoris was next to me and I hugged the baby when he was born. And I can say that the pains were less.

And it is also very good for the child who is born in the water because it goes out into a familiar environment. And you avoid the shock of childbirth. I’m not saying it’s just that because I’m not absolute, but there’s that too.”

How is her relationship today with her first husband and well-known director Grigoris Karatinakis. She says:

“My ex-husband and I have a good relationship. It didn’t happen automatically, not immediately. It takes time, maturation and for you to understand that he is the father of your child, that he is a person you value and love”
