The book focuses on the networks of Lesvos stonemasons, their building projects and highlighting local history
The Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation organizes a presentation of his edition “The Gems of Lesvos. Social networks, techniques and local history (1850-1950)” by Dr. Christos N. Hatzilias, the Friday, November 8 2024 (time 18:30), in the Foundation building, in Tavros.
Mr. Ioannis Tsiaousisprofessor of the School of Medicine of the University of Crete, president of the “Friends of Traditional Architecture-Anthi tis Petra” association, and Mr. Nektarios Vakalispresident of the Federation of Lesbian Associations of Attica (OLSA).
The author of the volume will intervene Christos Hatziliaswho did many years of archival research and study of bibliographic sources, field research in stone-built structures of Lesvos as well as interviews with old stoners, while a discussion with members of stoner families and the public will follow.
The event will be coordinated by Ourania Karagiannisarcheology doctor, head of the Foundation’s Publications Service.
The entrance is free for the public. Seat reservation is desirable.
