In a recent photo posted on social media, the 58-year-old actor can be seen impersonating screen legend Marlon Brando as he prepared to star in one of the most iconic roles of all time: the inimitable ‘Godfather’.
Fans praised the casting choice for the new film, which will premiere at the Torino Film Festival in Italy, and said Zane’s “transformation” into Brando is amazing.
Billy Zane – actor and producer – born on February 24, 1966 in Chicago, saw his acting stock soar after his role in ‘Titanic’. The parents of Vasilis Tzanetakou, as his real name is, are both of Greek origin, his mother Thalia from Chios and his father Giorgos from Lakoniki Mani.
In “Waltzing With Brando,” directed by Bill Fishman, Zane will portray the late actor as he prepared for some of his most iconic roles: “The Godfather” as well as “Last Tango in Paris.” The biopic is based on the memoir written by Bernard Judge.
“I’m not ashamed! I am proud to be Greek. I’m a patriot, it’s in my DNA. Although I was born in Chicago, my parents are from Sparta and Chios”the actor had stated in an interview. He got the germ for acting from his parents, who were amateur actors.
