On a trip to South Africa, the Prince of Wales, William, referred to 2024 as “the most difficult year of his life”. The statement was given to the British press this Friday (8), according to the ANSA news agency.
This is because his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles III, were diagnosed with cancer. The heir to the throne said that facing the disease in a double way was “terrible” and that it was not easy to “keep everything on track” in a period dominated by worries.
The situation improved when King Charles returned to his activities after completing his treatment. Kate Middleton ended chemotherapy in early September.
“I’m very proud of my wife and my father for the way they handled the situation,” William said.
This weekend, Kate must fulfill an official royal schedule for the first time after the end of her treatment. On Saturday (9), the princess will participate in a ceremony with the monarchy at the Royal Albert Hall, in London, and on Sunday (10), she will be at an event at the Cenotaph, in Whitehall, also in the British capital. Both honor British people killed in wars.
However, Kate’s first public engagement after chemotherapy came in October, when she and her husband visited a community center in Southport, England.
