Today, Friday November 15, 2024, her fifth solo album titled ‘Bouquet’ is released, drawing inspiration from flowers
Gwen Stefani in an interview with the newspaper “Guardian” she talked about the iconic song of the 90s, “Don’t Speak”as well as the happiness she has found in her relationship with popular country star Blake Shelton, who she said offers her “the peace and love he was looking for.”
When asked if he expected ‘Don’t Speak’ to be so successful, he said: “I had absolutely no idea. It didn’t even represent what we were doing, because No Doubt was such a dynamic live-energy band. Even the guitar solo had no basis to exist in this song. The original version was written by my brother [Eρικ, πλήκτρα] at my grandparents’ home which had become the home of the band. He stayed up all night smoking and eating peanut butter and milk sandwiches.”
The band that would later become known as ‘No Doubt’ was formed in 1986 by Eric Stefani (keyboards) and John Spence (vocals) and was originally called ‘Apple Core’. Eric then invited his sister Gwen to do vocals. In 1987, the band was faced with a shocking loss, as Spence committed suicide. His favorite expression “no doubt” becomes the band’s new name and Gwen takes over all the vocals. They released their first album in 1992 and three years later came ‘Tragic Kingdom’ with the iconic ‘Don’t Speak’.
“I ended up rewriting the lyrics and changing the whole song because Tony [Kanal, μπάσο] broke up with me It’s crazy, but this song is really my heartbeat and it changed everything. After it came out, we were in Israel in a van and we were stopped by some police officers with guns. One of them looking inside the van, started singing “Don’t Speak to me”. This soon became commonplace.”
Today, Friday November 15, 2024, her fifth solo album titled “Bouquet”drawing inspiration from the flowers that were the occasion to meet Blake Shelton. At that moment he describes her as “a second chance at life, sent by God.”
“We met through gardening. We have a house together in Oklahoma and during the pandemic there were some purple irises on the property that someone planted ages ago and they survived. I wrote the song ‘Purple Irises’ for that reason and how it feels when you find true love, along with the insecurities that come with it.”
