Interpreter of Gilsinho in the acclaimed series “The Game That Changed History”, Jonathan Azevedo was moved when he recalled how he discovered that he was adopted by his parents Sérgio and Sildeia. The episode, which occurred at the age of 16, was revealed by a neighbor. “I think it was one of the first blows I took in my life. I reviewed everything I thought: what love was, what living was, what a hug was,” he began.

Jonathan continued narrating the facts during his participation in the program Angélica: 50 & Uns: “Me and some friends were playing at a neighbor’s door, and she came out saying: ‘Are you going to be talking loud at my door? Why don’t you go to yours? door?’. I replied: ‘That’s it, ma’am’. Then she replied: ‘Do you know who your mother is?’

As the story continued, the actor became emotional, even crying, and needed to be comforted by Fabio Porchat. Jonathan then recalled the moment he went home to talk to his adoptive parents: “My father talked to me, my mother told me that life had to go on and that, if anything, they would be with me. And that was it.”

Finally, Jonathan concluded: “If there’s one thing that people doubt in this world, it’s love. When you truly love, everything changes. So, when I talk about adoption, it’s not just about my adoption. It’s about so many children who now they won’t have a father or a mother, because not everyone has the courage to be a father in the way it is to be a father. And that’s what my parents did for me.
