December for Happy Traveler begins with a unique trek to the easternmost point of Greece. On Sunday, December 1, Eutychis, Elektra and their girls are traveling to rural Kastellorizo! Our travelers in earlier episodes had already traveled to Gavdos, Othonous, and Ormenio, and the only tip of the country they hadn’t visited was the Megistis complex.

They go to the island that doesn’t have the many beaches they find on other islands, but it has an endless sea for swimming and good-hearted people that make you want to stay there longer. They see the old houses, many churches, the Old Mosque, the Santrapeia school and the monastery of Saint George.

They visit all the major attractions of the island, such as the spectacular blue cave and climb the medieval Castle as well as the ancient Acropolis, Palaiokastro, to admire one of the most spectacular sunsets in all of Greece. By boat, they also go to see the islets opposite the port such as Ai Giorgi and “Psomi”!

They enjoy the delicious food and talk with the locals, while also going to the museum of Riddles, where they are impressed by the huge collection of the mathematician Pantazis Choulis. They also visit the atelier of Mr. Alekos who creates beautiful sculptures in natural rock and beautifies the island in his own way.

One of the most important and moving moments of the trek is without a doubt the visit to the island of Ro to see the tomb of Mrs. Despina Achladiotis, known as the Lady of Ro. In addition to Ro, however, they also visit Strogyli to set foot on the easternmost island of Greece and see the cave from where, if you are in the morning, you will be the first in all of Greece to see the sun rise.

They hike, climb the famous path with 400 steps and see ancient tombs and winepresses that exist in many parts of the island. Above all, however, they admire the incomparable view offered by many points at the top of the impressive rocks that make Kastellorizo ​​look like a natural fortress.
