‘Dawson’s Creek’ actor sells products to pay for cancer treatment

American actor James van der Beek, 47, known for his role as Dawson in the series “Dawson’s Creek”, announced on social media that he is selling products to pay for the treatment of his recent diagnosis of colorectal cancer.

Van Der Beek, also famous for the film “Marcação Cerrada” (“Varsity Blues”), made the announcement on Instagram last week, almost three weeks after revealing his illness in an interview with People magazine.

The actor shared photos on Instagram wearing a sports shirt from the film while holding an American football and presented the product launched to raise funds.

“100% of my net profits will go to families recovering from the financial burden of cancer (including my own),” he wrote on Instagram.

The signed jerseys feature the name of his character, quarterback Jonathan “Mox” Moxon, from the 1999 film. Unsigned jerseys cost $40, while autographed jerseys are available for $80. R$480).

At the beginning of last month, the actor said that he has the support of his family to deal with the disease and that “he has taken the necessary steps to resolve it”. He says he is optimistic.

Van der Beek’s biggest role was as the lead in “Dawson’s Creek”, which aired from 1998 to 2003 in the United States. The series chronicled the coming-of-age journey of a group of young people who lived in a small town in Massachusetts.
