Rafa Kalimann is criticized for not singing samba excerpts that mention Exu

A video of actress and influencer Rafa Kalimann during a Carnival parade that took place in Rio de Janeiro on Friday (29) generated criticism of her on social media. Internet users point out that Kalimann does not sing excerpts from Imperatriz Leopoldinense’s samba that mention Exu, an orixá from African-based religions.

The school presented the plot “Ómi Tútu ao Olúfon – Fresh water for the Lord of Ifón” for the 2025 Carnival. In the video circulating on the internet, it is possible to hear the excerpt that says: “Offer Exu… an ebó to protect / Exu’s penance, he doesn’t let himself cool down / He breaks the silence with his laughter / It’s a closed gate, it’s the burden of duty.”

Kalimann, who is the muse of Imperatriz Leopoldinense, does not reproduce Exu’s name during the 30 seconds of video.
