Lucas Lucco says he has been dealing with bipolar disorder since he was 10 years old: ‘The greatest evil is invisible illnesses’

Lucas Lucco, 33, commented on his recent initiative to share his mental health battle on social media. The singer said that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder by doctors at the age of 10 and that he posts videos of his daily life to raise a debate about the disorder. He also reinforced that his intention is to share the most real life possible with his fans.”

Lucco acknowledged that he still doesn’t feel ready to help other people with mental health issues. “My purpose, from the moment I feel ready, is to be able to really help with the approach to mental health in our country, which today is still very limited,” he said in an interview with GQ.

Despite the early diagnosis, he credited the artistic environment as having influenced the worsening of his symptoms in recent times. “Since I was 10 years old, I started showing signs [de transtorno bipolar] and this has to do with a family issue, even genetics. But, after I started my singing career, the situation got worse. It was a trigger,” he explained.

He told us a little about his routine. “Every day you wake up in a different way. One day is bad, another is good. And you have to wake up, work, there’s no crying […] People don’t know that the biggest evil in society from now on are invisible illnesses and wounds that don’t bleed.”

Recently, he published a video in which he seemed to be very dejected about a situation, about which he did not want to give details. Fans pointed out that Lucco could be dealing with symptoms of psychological disorders. In addition to bipolar disorder, the singer said he was diagnosed with severe ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) by doctors.

Lucas Lucco has been away from the stage since December 2023 to take care of his mental health.
