The actor fought back tears as he spoke about his ‘mystery illness’
Jamie Foxx revealed what really happened with his health adventure. Taking the stage in the new Netflix comedy show “What Had Happened Was” and proclaiming “I’m back!”as he danced and excited the audience, o actor said his life was saved just 400 yards from the Atlanta theater at Piedmont Hospital.
The Oscar- and Grammy-winning actor said of his “mystery illness”: “Please, Lord, let me get through this. On April 11th, I had a bad headache and asked my friend for aspirin. I quickly realized that when you have a medical emergency, your friends don’t know what the hell to do.”Fox joked.
He said that before he could even take the aspirin, he passed out and was unconscious for weeks. “I don’t remember 20 days”Fox said. He was told his friends took him to a doctor in Atlanta, who gave him a cortisone shot and got rid of him. “What the hell is that?” Fox said.

His sister Deidra Dixon knew Fox was going through something much more serious. “He says, ‘Put him in the car. That’s not my brother,'” Fox said. “He walked in – he didn’t know anything about Piedmont Hospital, but he had a feeling that some angels were in there.”
In Piedmont, a doctor told Dixon that Mr actor ‘had a brain bleed that led to a stroke’ and that if he was not operated on as soon as possible he would die. “My sister knelt outside the operating room and prayed the whole time. I lost everything, but the only thing I was able to keep was my sense of humor. I knew if I could stay funny, I could stay alive.”he added.
