They compared me to Gugu, says Lucas Guimarães, who will finally debut on SBT

Lucas Guimarães heard many opinions about the future of his program on SBT, Eita, Lucas!. After being announced, the attraction was postponed four times, giving rise to many comments about its capacity. Now with a confirmed date of March 8, he explains why the project took longer than expected to come to fruition and says it will surprise everyone.

“It was a necessary time of maturity, of learning. People ended up considering a lot of things… lack of sponsor, lack of sponsorship. In fact, that never happened”, says the influencer.

Although the controversial Carlinhos Maia, Lucas’s husband, has already said that his husband “invested millions” in the project, the presenter said that there was no sponsorship crisis and that he himself did not come in as the main investor, much less his husband. “We already have our partners. And no, it’s not my husband, as people often said. And no, it’s not me”, she states.

The influencer states that the program faced other challenges, such as the climate of the recording location, costs and travel schedule. Wow, Lucas! It will be an itinerant program and the scenes will be recorded in several cities across the country.

“I’m going to spend 15 days of the month somewhere in Brazil recording several scenes, which is already a two-month program. So, 15 days I stay at home, off work, and 15 days I record my program”, he explained.

He says that the show Shower or Money has already visited Aracaju, Maceió, Fortaleza, Recife and Manaus, with an audience of 30 thousand people in each location.

In the dynamic, participants are challenged to go on stage and sing a song of their choice, while standing under a closed shower, without knowing whether they will be rewarded with money or an ice-cold shower. At the end of the performance, people decide the fate of the contestant.

“What people don’t know is that it’s a program that costs much more than others. It’s a more expensive program to make. It requires a whole team. We travel to record in various places in Brazil,” he says.

“At no point did I hit SBT to beg.” Lucas says he was invited by the broadcaster to present the program, in the same package that included Virgínia and Tirulipa: “I always recorded this content on my social networks. My idea was that some broadcaster would notice me. And that was when Daniela Beyruti, the Patrícia Abravanel, SBT, noticed me.”

He remembers that he has worked a lot with program presentation: “It was more than 13 years. I was on the radio, I worked as a radio host for three years, I was a street announcer. All of this was a school to get here.”

Even with his career consolidated, with 14 million followers on Instagram alone, the influencer said that being on television was his goal: “I always worked to reach this moment. For my program to be on another media outlet. And TV will position myself at that level. It has a magic, it has a different visibility”.

“I have nothing to lose, I only have to gain. And I’m not going to SBT, to TV, for money. Thank God, where I am is a very comfortable place, but I like to get out of my zone of comfort. I think that when you leave your comfort zone, you grow as a human being, you grow as an artist, as a professional”, he said.

He says that he has already been well evaluated by those who have been watching the programs and that he has already been compared to Gugu, his inspiration: “They have already compared me. They have said: ‘Our future Gugu'”. “I, Lucas, have to eat a lot of rice and beans to get there, I have a lot to learn”, he said.

He adds that some paintings will be similar to those of the late presenter: “Gugu has always been my biggest reference, even some of my paintings will remind me a lot of what he did. But I also have new paintings.”
