The needs of society, psychotherapy and the next step after Maestro
She grew up in Paleo Faliro, knowing from an early age that the path of art is the one she should follow. It is not just a coincidence that Stefania Gouliotis after finishing school he entered the Geology School of the University of Athens, where he studied for just two years.
The reason she didn’t manage to graduate is that at the same time she was accepted to the Dramatic School of the National Theater from where she graduated with honors in 2004. In recent years she swept by performing the… “bitch” Alexandra, wife of Christoforos Papakaliatis in Maestro. A role he loved. She herself talked about everything in Sozi, which is also published by Andreas Theodorou.

-Is it easy to get close to and love such a character?
“Why should I not love him? She is a woman who fell into the trap of being like her father. We saw that in the second cycle, it took some psychoanalysis and I think she might have been introduced in a certain way, but I think in hindsight she’s a desperate woman like many women. With this particular character, Christoforos, the truth is that he had a very big challenge”.
-We saw “Alexandra” have many “boxes” in her life, do they exist in real life?
“Of course, at one point she says ‘I clicked all the clichés’ and that’s a very subtle nuance of some of the attitudes that women have in today’s society. I’m glad because ‘Maestro’ was a series that touched on many social issues. So one of them was how much women are trapped in the story that they have to tell in their social environment. The story of “Alexandra” is a typical case where she has to obey some rules that have been imposed on her. She is not free at all and has fallen into the very trap of life that she has set for herself.”
-In your life, have you ever felt these “musts” of society?
“Yes, I have fully felt the “shoulds” of society. After an age when I managed to recognize this thing, and the quarantine helped me a lot in this, because I got closer to my “wants” in who I am, I managed to have a better time.”
-Did psychoanalysis help in the part of your liberation?
“Of course psychoanalysis helped, you never let go of that part. As soon as you go to leave it, a bell rings. I’ve done a lot of psychoanalysis, because it’s hard to admit about yourself a lot of things that you should. But you shouldn’t accept what the other person opposite tells you, because you see him as an enemy. But if you tell yourself – because this is mirrored to you by a therapist, it starts to explode inside you much more strongly.”
-What is the biggest lesson you learned through psychotherapy?
“Through psychotherapy I realized that the smaller steps I take to recognize some behaviors in which I am trapped, the more beautiful my life and the people who are with me will become.”
-Have you thought about your next step in television since you are coming after a big success like “Maestro”?
“Yes, there are various discussions. It depends on the script and what they give you to play. Very strong proposals have come after “Maestro” and I think they will come true.”
