Adriana Esteves plans some (perhaps permanent) time away from soap operas as soon as the recording of “Mania de Você” (Globo) ends. This is one of the actress’s resolutions for the new cycle that begins this Sunday, the day she celebrates her 55th birthday.
Beloved by the public and remembered for notable roles (ah, Carminha…), the artist is discreet in relation to her personal life. Averse to social media at a time when the number of followers can define the selection of a professional who “brings engagement”, Adriana won due to her talent.
She was discovered in 1989, in the pre-internet era, when she participated in a competition on Domingão do Faustão. A budding actress, she showed that she had a knack for the job and came in second place. The prize: a role in the soap opera “Top Model”.
With Carminha, from “Avenida Brasil” (2012), she joined the pantheon of great characters in national television drama — and she knows it. Adriana has already stated that the disguised villain was a milestone in her more than 30-year career.
This career has a difficult period. At 22 years old, she faced severe depression due to the criticism she suffered when playing Mariana, in the original version of “Renascer” (1993).
