Ilias Psinakis spoke about his relationship with Sakis Rouvas, when he was the popular singer’s manager at the beginning of his career.

In an interview with Action 24, the well-known manager revealed that he and Sakis Rouvas were initially friends and became his manager later, due to their friendship with Zois Laskaris. “I’ve known Sakis since 1988 and I became his manager in 1992. I had a good time with Sakis,” he said characteristically.

Ilias Psinakis said that Sakis Rouvas trusted him completely and did not ask any questions. “To build a myth, the other person must also have something. You should highlight the strengths and cover the flaws. As a manager I don’t give advice, I give orders. Sakis always had confidence in me. I never explained (why I was making him jump off the piano into the world), he never asked,” he said.

He also explained why he wouldn’t let the singer speak publicly and give interviews at the beginning of his career.

“Sakis, during this whole period when he was not speaking, went to university with the best in Greece and abroad. That is, with Hatzidakis, Vougiouklakis, Tsarouhis, Vassilis Fotopoulos and others, and with scientists. Sakis was a sponge. He learned philosophy, literature, everything, both for his work and in general. He was a sponge and wanted to learn,” said Ilias Psinakis initially.

“I, let’s say, as a manager I am one of the best in Greece, in everything else I am not good at all. Some artists there are stepping on it. Because they see 100,000 thousand people deifying them, then they think they are philosophers and businessmen and all. […] Sakis, let’s say, was a champion in the pole vault and the instrument. So he wasn’t doing very well at school. When you play sports, you can’t be perfect in school either.

So, at first I was afraid to interview him, because everyone wanted him back then. Once he said “on the street”, once he didn’t close the adjective or said no brick, then he would have a career like those who say bricks and make a career. I didn’t know what to do because my channel friends were almost blackmailing me because it was in demand. There was pressure. So I saw internationally who does not speak. Simple things. He doesn’t need intelligence,” explained Ilias Psinakis.
