Globo edits BBB 25 call video after gaffe with advertiser

A few hours after airing, the first official call for Big Brother Brasil 25 was taken off the air on Thursday night (26). The video returned hours later, with changes.

A scene from the end, in which the BBB 21 champion, Juliette, appeared driving a Beetle was edited. The part where the vehicle was shown dragging some cans, including the head of the Maria Eugênia doll, which marked the first edition of the reality show, disappeared.

THE F5 found that the edit occurred because of a gaffe with one of the program’s advertisers. The vehicle in which the former BBB appeared is from the Volkswagen brand, but the program is sponsored by Chevrolet.

The automaker did not make a formal complaint, but the agency responsible for the company’s account, which belongs to the General Motors conglomerate, drew the broadcaster’s attention. The directors of BBB 25 then rushed to the editing room and redid the call, soon announced as “the new reality call”.

In the new version, Juliette appears in close-up, says that following the program for 25 years is, in fact, a test of endurance, and turns to start the car at a tighter angle than in the previous version. Then the BBB 25 logo appears.

Until the start of the program, Globo intends to show other vignettes with the theme “Silver Anniversary”, celebrating 25 years of the reality show. The current season, the first without Boninho’s involvement, will have an unprecedented format: participants will enter the house in pairs.

THE F5 contacted Globo and Chevrolet, but did not receive responses until the last update of this text.
