Kadu Moliterno’s, 72, last work on television was in the soap opera “Topíssima”, on Record, in 2019. The actor, however, had already been released from Globo four years earlier. During this period, he faced a serious financial crisis. Kadu revealed that he accumulated debts and only managed to reorganize himself after receiving, in 2023, the invitation to be the protagonist of the show “The Future of Humanity”, based on the work of Augusto Cury.
Kadu recalled his dismissal from Globo in an interview with the podcast I take back what I said. At the time, he was recording the soap opera “Alto Astral” and found his character’s sudden death strange. “I thought the contract would be renewed automatically. But one day, I picked up the chapter and there it was: ‘The character’s car falls into a cliff and he dies’. That wasn’t in the synopsis and, soon after, I was called into the personnel department” , said the actor. It was then that he received the news that he would only be hired on a construction basis. Kadu Moliterno worked at Globo for 35 years.
According to Kadu Moliterno, he started to live a very different reality from what he was used to. “You went from a good salary to zero, man. Wow, if they had given me at least six months’ notice so I could plan ahead and get myself in shape”, he said. The actor explained that, even after working on soap operas at Record, he ended up unemployed again and accumulated more debts: “It was complicated.”
The situation worsened with the pandemic in 2020, which further worsened their financial difficulties. It was a challenging three years, and Kadu acknowledged that he was increasingly worried. “One day, I decided to go to the beach and I asked God: ‘Find me a job, a character that matches what I’ve done, what I’ve built to date, please’. And then the phone rang. They called me for Augusto Cury’s play. When I read the text, I fell in love, and everything went well”, he reported.
