Actor and comedian Will Ferrell, 57, was seen attending a hockey game in Los Angeles, United States, this Sunday (29) dressed as his character from the classic Christmas film “An Elf in New York”.
Ferrell wore a green suit and hat in the stands at the clash between the Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers, in the NHL (National Hockey League). But unlike the happy, childlike Buddy in the film, he was photographed with a serious expression. Apparently, as a prank to portray a darker Buddy, Ferrell held what appeared to be an unlit cigarette in his mouth and pretended to smoke it.
A screen in the gym identified Ferrell as Buddy, according to a video shared on social media by the Los Angeles Kings. FanDuel reporter Carrlyn Bathe told fans that Buddy “said it was a tough holiday season” and that he was “looking for a Kings win.”
It turned out to be a Christmas miracle, as the Kings ended up defeating the Flyers. Ferrell was seen celebrating and raising his drink at another point during the game.
The comedian is known to be a longtime Kings fan and is often seen attending their games. “It wouldn’t be a Kings game without Will Ferrell,” the team said on Instagram earlier this year.
Ferrell starred in the 2003 comedy “Elf in New York” as a human who was raised alongside elves in the North Pole and travels to New York to meet his biological father, leading to many comical fish-out-of-water situations. Jon Favreau directed the film, which also featured actors James Caan and Zooey Deschanel.
