Gothenburg Film Festival, its biggest film and TV event Scandinaviathis year pays tribute to a unique personality of the seventh art: the French-American actress and director Gillie Delpy (Julie Delpy).

With two Oscar nominations, Delpy will receive the honorary Dragon awardwhile she will share her experiences and thoughts in an audience discussion about her new film, “Meet the Barbarians.”

The film follows the journey of a family from Syria who takes refuge in a village in Northern France.

“Zillie Delpy is a unique voice in the film world,” said Gothenburg’s artistic director Pia Lundberg, according to Variety.

“Her work combines humor, depth and sensitivity in a way that resonates with audiences worldwide. She is a trailblazer, a source of inspiration and we are truly proud to honor her with this year’s Dragon Award.”

The Gothenburg Film Festival 2025 will take place from January 24 to February 3, with the renowned director receiving the award on January 29 during a screening of “Meet the Barbarians” at the city’s Biograf Draken.
