Art lovers have the chance to spend a night at London’s National Gallery, at the ‘Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers’ exhibition.

London’s National Gallery has announced that its exhibition will be open for 24 hours on January 17-18.

The Van Gogh exhibition has already become the third most popular in the history of the cultural institution with 283,499 visitors from its opening day on September 14, 2024 to January 7, 2025.

“Our visitors will have the rare and special opportunity to experience Van Gogh’s paintings at night and in the early hours of the morning following in the footsteps of artists such as Freud, Bacon and Hockney who visited the National Gallery for inspiration from her collection,” said Sir Gabriele Finaldi, director of London’s National Gallery.

“Walk with a couple in love under a starry night. Look up at the swirling clouds and the cypress trees swaying in the wind. Stay for a while in Van Gogh’s favorite park, the “Garden of the Poet”, or under a shady tree in Saint-Remy” reads a statement from the Gallery.

In total, the exhibition features 49 paintings and 14 drawings, on loan from museums and private collections around the world, and its subtitle, Poets and Lovers, may come as a surprise, but it shows that the curators are focusing on the thoughts that inspired them. the imagination and art of the Dutch painter.

It is the second time that the National Gallery will be open for one night in its history, the first time was for the exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan in 2012.
